MobileRSS has been available for the iPhone and iPad since July 2011, and the Mac version has almost identical functionality. The app is simply a Google Reader client so you need to have a Google account to use it, but it synchronises perfectly and has lots of sharing options such as posting to Twitter and Instapaper. When I’m on news duty, I add my RSS reader, the open source Mac app Vienna. Bryan Chaffin I use a variety of ways to gather information and research articles. If you like the Metro UI you can try Mishra Reader out. RSS readers are more about functionality than UI for me, but even I've gotta say this looks pretty awesome. Leaf: A Tiny, Beautiful News Reader Jacob Penderworth on February 21st 2013. Cool, leaf, mac, new, review, rss reader; News started on paper, then it went to the television, and now we have digital print. I was looking around in the news section of the Mac App Store the other day and stumbled upon Leaf, a straightforward approach to news.
There have always been two top players in the news reader app market: Flipboard and Pulse. Both started on the iPad and later made their way to the iPhone and Android OS. While Pulse may not always receive as much attention as Flipboard, the app is still beloved by many.
Fans of Pulse will be happy to learn that the free service has made its way to the desktop in the form of a slick, new HTML5 web app.
Two years ago, we released Pulse for iPad to make browsing news on mobile devices faster, simpler and more beautiful than ever before. It wasn’t long until our users let us know that the problem we solved wasn’t confined to mobile devices. Even on the web, people have to bookmark their favorite websites, switch contexts from site to site, and have no simple way to share or save stories. That changes today with the launch of Pulse for the Web.
Users can login with their free Pulse.me account and have their reading activity synced across apps. Facebook can also be used to login and start using Pulse for the Web.
Windows users will be pleased that Pulse collaborated with Microsoft to integrate multi-touch gesture support. This means that Microsoft’s new Windows 8 tablets will be able to use the service like a full-fledged app. If you’re running an iOS or Android device touch support is obviously already present in Pulse.
News Reader Software For Mac
The HTML5-based interface is lightweight, clean, and typography looks great on desktops with resolutions as high as the MacBook Pro with Retina display. If you’ve used the mobile apps, you’ll feel right at home in the new web app.
Pulse’s new web app works on all modern browsers, including Safari and Google Chrome.
